Andrew
Eidson's love of Judo began in 1992 while he was still in junior
high. He enjoyed the discipline of the sport, the strategy of
the movements and the art of the take down.
In 1999 he began studying Brazlian Jiu Jitsu under the famed 4th degree Carlson Gracie and Otavio de Almeida Jr. black belt Paulo Fernando. Seeing great potential, Paulo invited Andrew to train at his academy and took personal attention to him showing him all the techniques passed down from Carlson Gracie and Otavio de Almeida Jr. themselves.
Quickly moving up the belt ranks, Andrew began making a name for himself and was invited to train at some of the most prestigious gyms in Sao Paulo, Brazil such as the Yamasaki Judo Club and Godoi. There Andrew had the opportunity to learn under some of the legends in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu including Carlson Gracie Sr., Flavio Behring, and Roberto Lage just to name a few.
After only a few years Andrew became Paulos top student and began to teach classes at the academy. In the tradition of passing his knowledge and skills down to future generations Paulo trained Andrew to become a teacher in one of the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Judo school in San Diego County.
Andrew Eidson is one of only two people to receive his black belt in Judo and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Paulo Fernando. Andrew tested for his Jiu Jitsu Black Belt in Sao Paulo, Brazil and is registered under the Federacao Paulista de Jiu-Jitsu.
