Afterthoughts on the 2024 Olympic Wrestling Matches
The 2024 Olympic wrestling matches were filled with exciting and shocking moments nobody expected. Mijain Lopez reached legendary status, and while Japan dominated, Elit Amor made history.
However, one thing that was obviously apparent in this year’s event was the noticeable absence of Russia. All Russian athletes were banned from competing in the 2024 Olympics.
Many of the top-ranked wrestlers are from Russia, which left the door open for other wrestlers to win their medals. These results would have dramatically changed if Russian wrestlers were allowed to compete.
Despite this, the wrestling matches provided many exciting moments and definitely increased the number of eyes on the sport.
