UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9: Jason Nolf vs. Renato Canuto Announced
Three-time NCAA wrestling champion Jason Nolf is set to take on veteran Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt Renato Canuto…At UFC Fight Pass Invitational 9 on December 5, 2024!
The bout will serve as the co-main event, preceding Mikey Musumeci’s promotional debut against Felipe Machado in the main event.
Both Nolf and Canuto are known for their dynamic, fast-paced grappling styles.
For Nolf, it’s yet another step in his transition from elite-level wrestling to professional Jiu-Jitsu.This will be his third professional Jiu-Jitsu match.
Earlier this year, he made his debut in a superfight, submitting Andrew Simmons with an Arm Triangle Choke after dominating from the top position. His performance earned him an invitation to the inaugural Craig Jones Invitational, where he competed in the under 80kg division.
However, he was matched against Tye Ruotolo – and the bout ended in the second round, with Nolf being submitted. And now, he faces another formidable opponent in Renato Canuto.
A black belt since 2017, Canuto has a wealth of experience in both gi and no-gi competition, including IBJJF World Championship titles in both.Canuto also competed in the Craig Jones Invitational, where he lost in the opening round…
But it is needless to say that his extensive Jiu-Jitsu background makes him a daunting challenge for the relatively new Nolf.
