Why is Marcelo Garcia Making a Comeback
Last week, the BJJ world was shocked by the triumphant return of the great Marcelo Garcia. In an exclusive interview with ONE, Garcia explained why he has chosen to return to competition.
For Marcelo, it came down to being respected and valued by a top grappling organization.
“I just like to be appreciated.I spent so much time in Jiu-Jitsu. In competition. I feel I always have given my best, and I feel like the appreciation from ONE Championship came at the right time. They value me. They value my time.”
Marcelo Credits Leo Vieira For His Return
During Garcia’s interview with ONE, he credited ONE Vice President of Submission Grappling for convincing him to return. The two world champions have been close friends for years and influential on each other’s styles.
“And reality is I can name every organization that was trying to convince me to go compete. But then ONE, especially with Leozinho, Leo Vieira is somebody that is close to me, close to my family. He came in for us.”
