What is Gracie Medical Defense?
Rener Gracie recently posted on Instagram about a medical worker who was beaten by an unstable patient. While this is a horrible story, Gracie used the story to plug his latest business adventure.
He is calling his newest program at Gracie HQ, “Gracie Medical Defense.” It’s an extensive course to show medical workers how to control patients using Jiu-Jitsu.
What is Rener Charging?
While it is a good idea for medical workers to learn basic grappling, there’s always a catch with these Gracies. That’s why we checked out the Gracie Medical Defense website to read about this course.
They listed this course as a “grueling” 5-day instructional course that will cost you $3200. That price gives you a certification for two years and you can get 25% off recertification.
The Flaw of Gracie Medical Defense
Aside from this clearly being a B.S. certification, the idea is very flawed. The idea that a person with no formal training would be fully prepared to defend themselves after a 5-day course is ridiculous.
Even after a year of training, a 100-lb woman would still have difficulty controlling a larger unstable patient. Gracie HQ is setting up these people to fail while taking $3200 from them.
