Victor Hugo delivered a spectacular finish to close out UFC Fight Pass Invitational 10 in Las Vegas – securing a decisive victory over Nicky Rodriguez.
Rodriguez came into the match looking to avenge three previous losses to Hugo. However, Hugo once again proved to be a major obstacle, shutting down Rodriguez’s offense throughout regulation time.
A four-time IBJJF world champion and a black belt under the legendary Alexandre Ribeiro, Hugo used his size advantage effectively, neutralizing Rodriguez’s attempts to impose his wrestling-heavy game.Despite several scrambles, neither competitor was able to secure a significant positional advantage – prompting referee Vitor Ribeiro to reset them multiple times.
As the match moved into overtime, Hugo strategically pulled guard to deny Rodriguez any takedown points. The two then became locked in a defensive battle, leading to another stand-up reset.
It was at this moment that Hugo seized his opportunity – capitalizing on a takedown attempt from Rodriguez, he countered beautifully, landing in a dominant position before taking the back and locking in a Rear Naked Choke for the tap.

After the match, he called out Gordon Ryan:
I think there’s only one guy that beat Nicky Rod on this stage. He’s not active, but whenever he is, it would be a pleasure, if he’s up to it, to face Gordon Ryan.
I think, after getting through Nicky, that’s probably the name that makes the most sense.
I know he’s not healthy, I wasn’t healthy either, so I believe he’s gonna get through that and whenever he’s ready, if he wants to take the challenge, I’ll be here and let’s do it.
