The Ruotolo Brothers Go to War
Ep 9 of The Road to CJI 1 kicks off with the Ruotolo brothers engaging in a fierce MMA sparring session. For those familiar with the twins, their relentless determination and commitment to their craft are always on full display, as they push each other to the limit.
The episode showcases the two throwing down with no mouthpieces in a no-time-limit round. Since Kade Ruotolo made his MMA debut at ONE Championship last June, the two have been doing more MMA sparring.

Why did the Ruotolo Brothers Choose CJI Over ADCC?
In this ninth episode of Road to the Craig Jones Invitational, the twins answer a question they’re constantly being asked. Why did the Ruotolo brothers choose CJI over ADCC?
Tye Ruotolo bluntly answered this question with the same answer every competitor gave. MONEY!!!
“We’re not little kids anymore. We’re adults with bills to pay. We want to win 1 million dollars and bring it back home to our family.
Ruotolo also made some slight criticisms of the ADCC. While he still wants to win an ADCC championship one day, he feels that the organization needs some changes.
Tye spoke of some fighters allegedly getting money under the table. In contrast, others don’t get paid for competing—only the prize of winning their division or placing 2nd or 3rd.
Kade Ruotolo’s Take on Joining CJI 1
Kade Ruotolo and his brother initially shared mutual feelings at the beginning of the video. The top grappler felt that as a professional athlete, he couldn’t pass up $1 million, which is life-changing money.
He also had some criticisms of the ADCC, the biggest of which was the grand prize. Ruotolo feels that the $10k prize ADCC gives to its winners doesn’t cover the cost of preparation for the event.
Kade also didn’t understand the hate the Craig Jones Invitational was getting. He believes this helps grow the sport and gives athletes a better chance of making a living in it.
He was also asked what ADCC should do to deal with CJI. Kade’s joking response was: “Make it a different date.”
Kade vs. Tye in the Division Finals
Sneaky Craig has made things interesting for the Ruotolo brothers in CJI 1. The twins have been put on the opposite side of the bracket within their division.
The prospect of both brothers reaching the finals is a tantalizing one, promising a thrilling showdown between two top grapplers. The brothers have even made a pact to split the prize money, although they’re not entirely convinced they’ll have to honor it.
If both the Ruotolo brothers make it to the finals, we will surely see an incredible match-up between top grapplers.
