USADA announced that Fellipe Andrew has accepted a two-year suspension for violating anti-doping rules.
Andrew tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolites following an in-competition drug test at the 2024 Pan International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Jiu-Jitsu Championship on March 24, 2024.
Although the IBJJF is not a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code, USADA was contracted by the federation to oversee testing at the event.Andrew’s sample was collected and analyzed according to the World Anti-Doping Agency’s International Standards.
Clomiphene, prohibited at all times under USADA rules, is known for its use in hormone regulation and is classified as a “Specified Substance” – which means it has a higher likelihood of unintentional use but is still prohibited.
Andrew’s two-year suspension began on April 16, 2024 – the date his provisional suspension was enacted.Alongside the ban, he has been disqualified from all results obtained in competitions sanctioned by the IBJJF from March 24 this year onward.
This means that Andrew had to forfeit all of his medals, points, and prizes won during that time.
