Adele Fornarino Transitioning to MMA?
During an interview with the Southern Cross Combat podcast, Adele Fornarino was asked about a possible future in MMA. The reigning ADCC champion said she was intrigued, but not ready to make that jump just yet.
Adele said she still has unfinished goals in Jiu-Jitsu and wants to cement her legacy further.
“Getting a look at that UFC belt, that 115 belt, I was like ‘oh that’s shiny I really like that.’ I’d like to have a crack at MMA at some point. I just need to tick the boxes in Jiu-Jitsu first.”- Adele Fornarino.
Jiu-Jitsu is Adele’s Priority
During the interview, Fornarino made it clear that Jiu-Jitsu is her top priority and will continue to be her focus. After having an incredible performance at ADCC 2024, Fornarino wants to add more titles to her resume.
But above all, Adele will continue to focus on Jiu-Jitsu, because she enjoys it.
“That’s definitely my first priority and where I’m putting all my attention, but maybe I’ll start dabbling and see if I like it like I do Jiu-Jitsu. I do Jiu-Jitsu because I enjoy it. So if I get the same amount of enjoyment out of competing in MMA, then yes, I would make the transition.”- Adele Fornarino.
Creating a Legacy
The reigning ADCC double champ also reiterated that her goal is to create a legacy in grappling. Her goal is to win all of the world titles consistently and be undeniable.
“I want to leave a legacy of mine in jiu-jitsu, so part of that is winning all the titles consistently… One set of ADCC titles is great, it’s cool, but I’d like to do that again. A gi world title would make the 12-year-old version of myself very, very proud, so a gi world title would be cool.”- Adele Fornarino.
Adele and fans alike are hoping the epic match between her and Ffion Davies gets re-booked soon. The two female grappling stars were supposed to battle on March 6th, but Davies pulled out with an injury.
This is one of the most highly anticipated matches of the year, which will surely be a banger.
