Former two-time flyweight champion Brandon Moreno became the first Mexican UFC Champion by defeating Deiveson Figueiredo by submission at UFC 263 in June 2021. In his time under the UFC banner, Moreno hadn’t won a fight in front of a Mexican crowd until Saturday. “The Baby Assassin’ picked up a decision win over No. 8 ranked Steve Erceg in UFC Mexico main event.
Following the win, and emotional Moreno discussed the victory and his plans for the future during his post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier.
“I have gone through so much to be here. So much dedication and so much effort,” Moreno said to the crowd inside Arena CDMX. “I know how hard it is for so many of you to get a ticket to be here. You don’t understand. Thank you so much. It’s all for you!”
