The octagon returns to Seattle, Washington this Saturday with Henry Cejudo and Song Yadong headlining UFC Seattle at the Climate Pledge Arena.
“Triple C” Cejudo enters the fight off the second two-fight skid of his career, and perhaps it’s important to remember that following the first, the Olympic gold medalist went on a tear to become a double-champ at flyweight and bantamweight.
That, however, was five years ago. Cejudo chose to walk away from the sport in his prime, pricing himself out of negotiations with the UFC, then returned in 2023 only to lose a split decision to Aljamain Sterling in an attempt to reclaim his old 135lb title. That was followed by a unanimous decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili, and suddenly Cejudo, who just turned 38, is looking like a long shot to ever make it back to the top.
Song Yadong, just hitting his prime at 27, has been circling the top of the bantamweight division for a while now. Yet steps up in competition against Cory Sandhagen and Petr Yan have not gone well for the Chinese standout. If he wants to cement himself as a contender, Cejudo could be the name to do it, especially if Yadong can put on a memorable fight and turn it into a signature victory.
Weigh-ins for UFC Seattle take place Friday morning; full results can be found below.
