Conor McGregor Faces Civil Lawsuit Alleging Sexual Misconduct at 2023 NBA Final

UFC star Conor McGregor is embroiled in another legal battle, as a civil lawsuit for sexual battery was filed Tuesday in the United States District Court in the Southern District of Florida. The case stems from an alleged incident during Game 4 of the 2023 NBA Finals at the Kaseya Center in Miami.

The lawsuit names McGregor, Basketball Properties LLC (the operators of Kaseya Center), the Miami Heat, and Compass Group USA as defendants. Filed by Jane Doe, the complaint outlines allegations of misconduct and requests the plaintiff’s anonymity to avoid public embarrassment and protect her privacy, given her high-profile career as a Senior Vice President in a Wall Street financial institution.

The allegations first surfaced shortly after the 2023 NBA Finals but were not pursued by the state attorney’s office due to “insufficient evidence” and a lack of corroborating witnesses. Despite this, the new civil case has brought renewed attention to the claims.

McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, maintains the fighter’s innocence, stating that the legal team is “confident” the case will be dismissed. Llanes remarked, “After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue. Almost two years and at least three lawyers later, the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.”

The civil lawsuit adds to McGregor’s ongoing legal challenges and places the former UFC champion under heightened scrutiny as he continues his public career in and out of combat sports.
