Craig Jones Shares He Will Compete In The “Biggest Grappling Match In History”
Craig Jones has just confirmed his return to competition at CJI 2 – promising what he calls “the biggest grappling match in history”.
For the second edition of CJI, Jones has already shaken things up by switching the format to a team-based event under Quintet rules. While he hinted at potential teams he’d like to see compete, the only confirmed squad so far is B-Team Jiu-Jitsu – the academy Jones co-founded.
This left many wondering whether Jones would step into the team competition himself or take part in a superfight like he did at CJI 1, where he faced Gabi Garcia in the sport’s first intergender match.
With his latest announcement, however, Jones has made it clear that he’ll be taking on another special match rather than joining B-Team’s lineup.
However, details about his opponent remain a mystery.Given his reputation for sarcasm, it’s unclear if Jones is seriously hyping up a historic match against someone like Roger Gracie or Gordon Ryan – or if he’s setting up another unconventional bout.
While fans speculate about Jones’ opponent, they’ll also be eager to see which other teams fill out the CJI 2 lineup.Eddie Bravo has already confirmed his 10th Planet squad, and with six team spots still available, surprises are expected.
Meanwhile, Tom DeBlass has announced that ONE Championship will allow its athletes to compete at the event – opening the door for more high-profile names.
