Craig Jones Talks Reconciliation With John Danaher: “That Bridge Is Mended”
In a refreshingly open conversation on the A Quick Razz podcast, Craig Jones offered a peek behind the curtain – reflecting on the surprise reconciliation with his former coach, John Danaher.
Jones, known as much for his sharp submissions as his sharper wit, didn’t hold back as he laid out his vision for jiu-jitsu’s future & shared rare updates on long-standing tensions that once defined the sport’s elite circles.
Jones revealed that he and Danaher, following their well-publicized split in the aftermath of the Danaher Death Squad breakup, have buried the hatchet:
The meeting was basically him being like: “You took things too far.”And I’m like: “Yeah, of course. John, I’d take things too far in the gym, too.”
We talked it out.Obviously, we will always have our differences of opinion, but at the end of the day, that bridge is mended.
According to Jones, their shared cultural roots played a part in easing the tension:
Me and Danaher got along so well in the gym because culturally Danaher is a Kiwi, and part of the reason he loves when Aussies and stuff is (because of) a comedic banter sort of thing.
He gets involved in that.
I even messaged him yesterday about something that came up and the chat immediately goes back to joking around.
