Mighty Mouse recently revealed that he was offered a Demetrious Johnson vs. Mikey Musumeci superfight by ONE Championship, but he turned the offer down.
Read below to see why Johnson decided to turn down this grappling match against the BJJ world champ.
The Proposed Demetrious Johnson vs. Mikey Musumeci Match
During an interview with Ariel Helwani, Mighty Mouse revealed that he was offered a grappling match with Mikey Musumeci. He went into detail on the proposed Demetrious Johnson vs. Mikey Musumeci super fight and why he decided to turn it down.
Initially, ONE Championship offered a grappling match against Musumeci with a large payday. However, another offer was made to do a special rules match with one grappling round and one MMA round.
This led Mighty Mouse to turn down the offer, citing that he has no desire to fight in MMA anymore.
The MMA GOAT went into detail on his decision, while chatting with Ariel Helwani.
“I mean, they offered me to do a super fight with Mikey Musumeci. They’re like, ‘Hey, what do you think about doing a grappling match with Mikey?’ And then we were going back and forth with the price, and we just kind of came to terms. And then they’re like, ‘How about a super fight with Mikey Musumeci? We’ll do one round grappling, one round mixed martial arts.’ And I was like, guys, I truly don’t care about fighting. You know, I just had an offer, you know, I think it was maybe three weeks ago, for great money, phenomenal money. And I was like, I don’t, I just don’t care to fight. I truly don’t care to fight mixed martial arts anymore.”- Johnson.

You have to respect Mighty Mouse for turning down the proposed mixed-rules match. He has nothing else to prove in MMA and is now focusing his energy on Jiu-Jitsu.
We look forward to seeing if Johnson might do some future straight-up grappling super fights.
