Fellipe Andrew Accepts 2-Year IBJJF Ban
Fellipe Andrew has accepted the two-year band that USADA gave him for testing positive for a banned substance. This test was conducted before the 2024 IBJJF Pan International Championship.
Here is a paragraph straight from USADA’s post: “Silva, 29, tested positive for clomiphene and its metabolites as the result of an in-competition drug test conducted at the 2024 Pan International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) Jiu-Jitsu Championship on March 24, 2024. Although the IBJJF is not a signatory to the World Anti-Doping Code (the Code), USADA was contracted by IBJJF to conduct testing for the event and collected and analyzed Silva’s sample in accordance with the World Anti-Doping Agency’s International Standards.”
Traditionally clomiphene is traditionally used in infertility in women. It’s common for pro athletes to use the drug to try and avoid drug detection.

What Now For Fellipe Andrew?
This is a bittersweet weekend for Fellipe Andrew. On the one hand, he made a successful debut with his AOJ team by winning this weekend at Polaris 29. On the other hand, he’s banned from the IBJJF for the next two years.
Andrew probably won’t lose much sleep over the decision, as he has been making nice earnings on the superfight circuit. He’s competed in numerous big superfight events this year and nearly won the $1 million prize at CJI.
However, he will have to take becoming IBJJF champion again out of his list of goals until after 2026.
Bobby is martial artist for almost 20 years with a BJJ black belt under Professor Sergio Miranda. He is also a karate black and former combat sports athlete, who loves all things grappling.
