The last time we saw Pat Downey, he led the CJI crowd in a chant of “F*** Gordon Ryan. According to Downey, the two have verbally agreed to a future special rules match that will take place in the future.

This isn’t the first time Gordon Ryan and Pat Downey have locked horns. In 2020, the two agreed on two matches against one another, hosted by BJJ Fanatics: One Jiu-Jitsu match followed by a wrestling match.

In their first grappling match, Downey was able to take Ryan down; however, Ryan’s experience was the deciding factor. After fifteen minutes of grappling, Gordon took Pat’s back and locked in an RNC.

Downey had a clear advantage in their second match and did quick work under amateur wrestling rules. The former national champion was the last person to hand Ryan a loss in grappling.

After years of call-outs by Downey, Ryan finally agreed to a third match against the champion wrestler in the future. On Instagram, Downey posted an exchange of DMs between him and the reigning ADCC king.
Ryan responded with this: “We make a YT video of us wrestling to the 1st point in ADCC rules. 1st to 3 scores win. So I can show everyone I can out wrestle you in accordance with ADCC scoring. When my knee is better, we can do it.’
When Will This Match Go Down?
Unfortunately, there is no set date or contracts signed for this proposed special rules match between Ryan and Downey. As Gordon, said in the message, he is dealing with a knee injury.
