Hollywood actor Henry Cavill has revealed that he’s got a lot of enthusiasm for Jiu-Jitsu…As well as that he had the honor of training under Roger Gracie.
Known for his roles in “Man of Steel” and “The Witcher”, Cavill explained how BJJ has become a vital part of his fitness routine and mental health strategy.
It’s an absolute privilege to train with Professor Gracie. He’s a friend, and I consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to learn from such a respected figure in the Jiu-Jitsu community.
Though, with the filming and overall life schedule like Cavill’s, it can be difficult to squeeze in the time required for BJJ training:
With a schedule as punishing as this, it’s difficult to find the time to even go for a short run, let alone dedicate hours to rolling on the mats.
Cavill also enjoys the “meditative” aspect of Jiu-Jitsu:
I love how it’s a thinking sport. You have to be constantly aware, planning, reading, and assessing the situation.
It forces you to be present in the moment and not think about anything else, which is a welcome respite from the constant mental stimulation of my work.
