The circus that surrounds the Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall fight continues to rage on as more light has been shed on the rumored clash.
A one-sided win over Stipe Miocic seemed to have changed Jones’ mind on retirement, but that still remains a strong possibility. While some think it’s a negotiation tactic, the UFC heavyweight king is showing no interest in unifying the titles against the current interim champion.
Instead, Jon Jones is eyeing a super-fight with Alex Pereira, but that isn’t likely. Despite recent contradicting reports, Jones has again hinted at never fighting Tom Aspinall.
“Sure, call me a fuck for the next year,” Jones said in response to a fan on X. “Eventually Tom will lose within the next two or three fights.”
“My legacy will go on as the greatest MMA [fighter] ever. End of story.”

Though, instead of confirming his retirement, Jones insisted that he would first relinquish his title before parting ways with the sport.
It’s unclear if his goal remains a matchup against the head of the light heavyweight table Alex Pereira, but the 37-year-old does seem completely uninterested in the rumored Aspinall affair.
“I’d probably vacate the belt before officially retiring,” Jones said. “Let’s see how my meeting with [the] UFC goes.”

Will Jon Jones vs. Tom Aspinall happen?
Whether it be a negotiation tactic or Jon Jones’ lack of interest in the fight, there is still belief that Tom Aspinall will get his chance to contend for the undisputed title in the near future.
Though he allegedly doesn’t have insider information, UFC commentator Jon Anik believes the highly-anticipated bout will go ahead.
If an agreement isn’t struck between all parties, it looks likely that Jones will be forced to give up his title and Tom Aspinall will then be promoted to the heavyweight champion.
