Former WEC and UFC featherweight champion and no. 8 ranked bantamweight contender Jose Aldo (32-8) has his next fight lined up just three months following victory in his return bout at UFC 301, as he’s slated to face no. 12 ranked Mario Bautista (14-2) at UFC 307.
UFC 307 is to go down on October 5, 2024, live from the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Aldo finished fighting out his contract at UFC 278 following defeat to no. 1 ranked Merab Dvalishvili, a fight he went into on a three-fight win streak with victories over the likes of no. 4 ranked Marlon Vera, Pedro Munhoz, and no. 9 ranked Rob Font, before deciding to try his hand at boxing.
After a 2-0-1 stint across three boxing fights, all in 2023, Aldo returned to the octagon and defeated no. 14 ranked Jonathan Martinez earlier this year in May at UFC 301, who went into their clash on a six-fight win streak.
Martinez is a very talented, dangerous striker that is tied for first place with the most leg kick finishes in UFC history with two, each of them coming over his latest three appearances.
Now at 37 years of age (will be 38 by time UFC 307 comes around) Aldo will take on another surging contender on a six-fight win streak in Mario Bautista.
Bautista has gone unbeaten since 2021 with wins over the likes of Jay Perrin (UD), Brian Kelleher (rear naked choke), Benito Lopez (inverted triangle armbar), Guido Cannetti (rear naked choke), Da’Mon Blackshear (UD), and Ricky Simon (UD), bringing him to 8-2 inside the octagon across 10 bouts.
Before that Bautista also defeated Miles Johns (TKO) in 2020, Johns of which is currently riding a four-fight win streak inside the octagon with a 6-1 record since facing him.
