Legacy Fighting Alliance (LFA) returns to Chandler, AZ, for LFA 188: Sweeney vs. Do Nascimento. Bantamweights headline the card as current LFA Bantamweight Champion, John Sweeney (MMA 13-3, LFA 5-0), faces off against Rio de Janeiro’s Rafael do Nascimento (MMA 9-2, LFA 3-1); however, only Nascimento is able to leave the arena holding the title as Sweeney came in above the Bantamweight Championship limit.

Remainder of the Card
LFA cards often showcase a strong mix of regional talent and rising stars. A few standouts on this card include:
Ilay Barzilay – With the only loss on his record being his amateur debut, Barzilay returns to the LFA cage carrying a 9-fight winning streak. He has trained with the likes of UFC Lightweight, Natan Levy, as well as the crew at Syndicate MMA in Vegas. An interesting prospect to keep an eye on.
Jade Jorand – Looking ahead at the next generation of WMMA that is currently developing, Jorand has flown under many radars. Starting her career via a loss to a rare Scorpion Crunch, she turned the corner in her 3rd pro fight and has since established a 4-fight win streak. The Goat Shed has been successful with many of their WMMA fighters on the regional scenes and it will be interesting to see where Jade goes depending on how this one turns out.
Leslie Hernandez – Facing off against Jade Jorand is Leslie Hernandez. With the nickname of “Dora the Destroyer” you’d most likely expect a lot of backpack positioning, but Hernandez has finished 2 of her 3 pro victories by way of TKO. While her opponent may be at The Goat Shed, this may very well be a stand and bang fight that we tend to not see in most WMMA bouts.
Cedric Katambwa – When LFA returns to Arizona, there are a few fighters you can expect to show up on the card, Katambwa is one of those. However, he isn’t just brought in to be a ticket-seller as he is currently undefeated with the promotion; 4-0 with 1 NC. With his last 2 wins coming by way of finish, we can expect Katambwa to look to replicate that in his latest outing to show the LFA brass why he should be looked at for more than just the Arizona stops.
