Mikey’s Announcement
Mikey took to social media this weekend to announce his move back to the US and his departure from ONE. Read his full statement below:
“END OF A CHAPTER OF MY LIFE – today I would like to announce I will no longer be living in Asia or competing under One Championship. Almost 3 years ago I met Chatri in Singapore in a meeting that was supposed to be 10 minutes and then turned into 4 hours of us talking 🤣😭. I had never lived outside my family in the US and then I called my mom and told her I’m changing continents and moving to Asia ! 🤣 These past three years I have had some of the best memories and lessons of my life! I met so many incredible people in Singapore @evolvemma and in Thailand @arete_bjj and these people i will consider to be friends and family for life. With the opportunity chatri gave me with one championship, I was the first submission grappling world champion the organization ever had, and I had the platform and opportunity to help grow our sport of jiu jitsu to so many more people! I will forever be full of gratitude to him, we traveled to 6 different countries together always training talking about life so many amazing memories 😭. This part of my life I am ready to now stay permanently home in the US where my family is, and start a new chapter of my competition career and life! Asia will always be my second home. Thank you everyone that supports me I am beyond grateful ❤️😭😊. God bless !”- Mikey Musumeci.
Where Will Mikey Compete Next?
Mikey Musumeci has yet to reveal his future plans for competition. He is likely still recovering from his failed weight class, and we won’t see him compete until next year.
