“El Cucuy” fight news?
This past weekend, the mixed martial arts (MMA) world was robbed of a potentially (sad) fight between former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight interim champion Tony Ferguson and ex-Bellator washout Dillon Danis because the Global Fight League (GFL) tragically collapsed months before the two fighters could collide.
But apparently, there is hope that the two fighters will fight soon, as Ferguson teased fight news on his social media yesterday.
“Ahhhh Yes, The Journey Is The Part You Remember Anyways”Ol’e Moose Knuckle Danis Still Gon’Get Demolished I Know Kung Fooooooooooo Ahhh Wah Wah Wahhh Waaaaaaaaaaahhhh Zaaaaaahhhh MF’as!!! Act Accordingly & Form Rank B’itches -Champ -CSO- # Fight News Soon pic.twitter.com/d8VTYBmMdW

As with most Ferguson posts, his message was filled with cryptic emoji jargon. Amid the chaos, “El Cucuy” wrote, “Ol’e MooseKnuckle Danis Still Gon’ Get Demolished,” followed by “Fight News soon.”
If the Professional Fighters League (PFL) is smart, they’ll book Ferguson vs. Danis as soon as possible to draw their biggest audience since Francis Ngannou’s destruction of Renan Ferreira (watch highlights) However, knowing PFL, they might consider themselves above a potential “freak fight,” or whatever one might call Ferguson vs. Danis.
Other promotions, like Karate Combat or Gamebred MMA, could also make Ferguson vs. Danis happen. The challenge is pay—Ferguson isn’t cheap, and Danis likely isn’t either (I have no idea why).
Nevertheless, Ferguson (25-11) is riding an eight-fight losing streak and has been finished in five of those. His last win came against Donald Cerrone in 2019 (watch highlights).
Danis (2-0) has not competed in MMA since 2019, when he submitted Max Humphrey at Bellator 222 and “retired” in 2023. He did compete in a complete joke of a boxing match against Logan Paul and got disqualified.
