Nicholas Meregali Undergoes Another Shoulder Surgery – Out Of Competition For Additional 6 Months
Nicholas Meregali recently underwent a second shoulder surgery, further delaying his recovery.
In one of the biggest upsets in ADCC history, Meregali suffered a shocking loss to Michael Pixley at ADCC 2024, who caught him in a submission after executing a high-impact throw. The awkward landing resulted in a significant shoulder injury, forcing Meregali to withdraw from competition.
Initially, Meregali hinted at a faster-than-expected recovery, raising hopes of an early return.Unfortunately, his plans have now been derailed, as he recently confirmed that he required a second surgery to fully repair the damage.
This latest setback extends his recovery timeline to an estimated four to six months – if everything progresses smoothly.
Meregali shared the unfortunate news via social media:
I had my first shoulder surgery on August 21st, and since then, my life has been on pause due to the severity of my injury. My entire focus shifted to healing, but despite all my effort, something unexpected happened.
I ended up needing another shoulder repair, which will keep me away from my passion for another 4 to 6 months.
I won’t say every day has been easy, but I also can say I’m deeply focused on the life lessons and opportunities for growth that this experience is bringing me.
In tough times, we must take full responsibility, embrace the lessons, and grow.
