Europe’s biggest grappling promotion is back with its biggest event to date, Polaris 29. The promotion brings the best grapplers in the world to face their champions for this action-packed event.
Check out our Polaris 29 main card breakdown and who we think will come out on top.
The Polaris 29 Main Card
The Polaris 29 main card is stacked with numerous world champions and the P4P best grapplers in the world. Here’s how the current main card of the event is looking
Diego Pato vs. Ashley Williams
Jay Rodriguez vs. Mohammed Avtarhanov
Tainan Dalpra vs. Max Lindblad
Cole Abate vs. Sam Mc Nally
Felipe Andrew vs. Arya Esfandmaz
Jed Hue vs. Julian Espinosa
Cammy Donnelly vs. Dominic Dillon
(Card subject to change.)
Diego Pato vs. Ashley Williams
In the Polaris 29 main event, the Polaris triple champ Ashley Williams defends his title against Diego “Pato” Oliveira. This is, by far, the biggest match of Ashley Williams’ grappling career.
Pato is the most decorated opponent Williams has ever faced as a five-time world champion(3 Gi & 2 No-Gi). Diego is fresh off his second-place showing at ADCC 2024 and, like Williams, has been killing it.
Ashley will need to put together the performance of his career to take out the reigning 2-division WNO champ. The Polaris champ will have a home-field advantage against Pato and look to put together a statement win.
Jay Rodriguez vs. Mohammad Avtarhanov
In the co-main event, SBG standout Mohammad Avtarhanov is in the biggest match of his young athletic career. Avtarhanov is going up against another rising star, Jacob “Jayrod” Rodriguez.
Jayrod is fresh off the best performance of his grappling career after taking silver at ADCC 2024. Rodriguez has one of the best matches of the event in the finals against now 2x ADCC champ Giancarlo Bodoni.
Both young grapplers are known for putting on shows, and this will surely be a FOTN candidate.
Tainan Dalpra vs. Max Lindblad
Polaris vet Max Lindblad is set for a big match against Tainan Dalpra. In the eyes of many grappling fans, Dalpra is on his way to becoming the best Jiu-Jitsu athlete in the world.
The Art of Jiu-Jitsu standout is a 2x world champion and will look for a dominant performance. However, Lindblad is comfortable in the underdog role and will look to pull off the biggest win of his career.
Cole Abate vs. Sam McNally
Another young AOJ standout in Cole Abate is set for a big match against one of Ireland’s top grapplers, Sam McNally. Sam is no stranger to being the underdog and thrives in the position.
If you remember, at ADCC 2022, McNally shocked the world by beating #1 seed Garry Tonon. Both grapplers always look for the finish, and you won’t want to miss this match.
Fellipe Andrew vs. Arya Esfandmaz
Reigning world champ Fellipe Andrew is set to return to the mat after announcing his move to AOJ. In Andrew’s debut with his new team, he is set to go 1-on-1 against Arya Esfandmaz.
Arya is another Polaris veteran with some great matches within the promotion. However, Fellipe’s game has been on another level, and he will look for a statement win after losing at CJI 1.
What to Expect From Polaris 29?
At Polaris 29, you can expect the Art of Jiu-Jitsu team to have standout performances and show out. They were already a powerful team, but now that Fellipe Andrew has joined, they’ll be looking to take over.
Don’t be surprised to see AOJ clean house at Polaris 29, but also don’t count the Polaris vets out. It’s going to be a wild night of grappling.
Where Can You Watch Polaris 29?
Polaris 29 goes down on September 7th at the Poole Lighthouse in Poole, England. The event will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass and is an event you don’t want to miss!
