Polaris 30 takes place on Saturday, November 2, and the card is rapidly shaping up to be one of the year’s biggest events.
On November 2, leading UK-based grappling and BJJ promotion Polaris will return to London with a card that looks to be one of the most talent-laden in recent memory.
In the main event of Polaris 30, former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit will lock horns with current UFC welterweight contender Michael “Venom” Page. Both men are best known for their striking games in MMA, but with decades of professional MMA experience between the two of them, they have evolved into skilled submission grapplers.
This won’t be Condit’s first time competing on the Polaris stage. The retired MMA star took on standout Welsh grappler Ash Williams back in 2022 at Polaris 22, suffering a heel hook submission loss.
Joining Condit and Page on the card will be an intriguing clash between decorated veteran Dante Leon and Britain’s Ellis Younger. Fresh off impressive victories over Mica Galvao and Giancarlo Bodoni at the 2024 ADCC World Championships, Leon is a pound-for-pound powerhouse and one of the sport’s most talented all-around grapplers, equally capable of attacking wrestle-ups and leg locks from his back as he is passing the guard and securing the back.
Younger, meanwhile, has spent the past several years steadily establishing himself as one of Europe’s best no-gi grapplers. His dynamic open guard game will present a serious challenge to Leon.
The 70kg title will be on the line when reigning champion Helena Crevar defends her gold against UK phenom Nia Blackman. A recent ADCC silver medalist, Crevar has long been regarded as the future of grappling. Her dynamic guard game will be put to the test against Blackman’s elite passing in this matchup between top technicians.
Also, reigning Polaris featherweight champion Keith Krikorian will take one step closer to achieving two-division gold when he takes on London’s Jed Hue in a lightweight #1 contender match. The bout has fireworks written all over it, as both athletes are proven submission hunters.
Krikorian is a capable takedown artist and dangerous guard passer but tends to do his best work when he’s attacking leg locks or hunting for the back. For his part, Hue is an explosive leg locker and guard player, often using the threat of a Choi-bar to set up his leg lock entries.
Also on the main card, ADCC and CJI veteran Eoghan O’Flanagan will face brown belt standout Philippe Geyer. For Geyer, this will be his opportunity to make waves against one of the sport’s most dangerous submission artists.
