Roman Reigns has his hands full with a triple threat match against Seth Rollins and CM Punk at WrestleMania 41 – but at WrestleMania 42 in New Orleans, there can be no more time to delay the inevitable: a showdown with The Final Boss, aka his cousin The Rock.
While Roman Reigns vs Seth Rollins vs CM Punk is going to be a lot of fun, and it makes a lot of sense, something tells us that there’s a world in which we could’ve gotten Punk vs Rollins, Cena vs Rhodes and perhaps Reigns vs Rock. Alas, Dwayne appears to be quite busy right now, so the pause button has been hit.
We nearly got it last year, until Cody Rhodes (rightly) chose to battle Roman Reigns for the undisputed WWE championship at WrestleMania 40.
So, while Roman may not have much of a problem with how his cousin has been conducting his business, you’d have to think the time will soon come for them to collide. When should the match actually happen, you ask? WrestleMania 42.
Roman Reigns vs The Rock is what we all need
The whole point of The Final Boss gimmick is that The Rock is building up to the idea that eventually, someone needs to be able to tear him down. So, while we all want to see Cody get a crack at him, what we’re really waiting for is Roman Reigns to prove once and for all that he is the one and only Tribal Chief, Head of the Table, all of that good stuff.
By the time we get to WrestleMania 42 in NOLA, The Rock will be 53 years of age, breathing down the neck of his 54th birthday. If he wants one final hurrah before riding off into the sunset, he needs to do it when his body is physically able.
As for Reigns, there isn’t a whole lot left for him to accomplish in professional wrestling either – and he needs this win under his belt to solidify himself as one of the all-time greats.
