In a superbly exciting night of Jiu-Jitsu and submission grappling duels, ADXC 5 crowned champions Urijah Faber and Rayron Gracie at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE, last Friday.
The event featured 14 high-level matches, with Faber and Gracie standing out in the main bouts without and with a gi, respectively.
Urijah Faber triumphed in the evening’s final bout, defeating Brazilian Bibiano Fernandes by unanimous decision in a no-gi contest. Here’s what he had to say in a conversation with Tatame:
I love Bibiano. This guy has changed the lives of many athletes throughout his career and he is also very difficult to finish.
It felt good to fight in the cage again. If you are looking for something to change your life, look for martial arts.
Abu Dhabi is doing the right thing by investing in something like Jiu-Jitsu.
In the main gi event, Rayron Gracie dominated Marcos Carrozzino, securing his second consecutive ADXC victory by submission:
I know everything is going well when Renzo is by my side.
My first loop choke was locked in, but Marcos escaped very well. The guillotine he applied to me was very tight, but I knew he would put everything into it, so I managed to defend myself and recover.
Five minutes before the fight, Renzo told me to use the corner choke about 40 seconds before the end of the round.I did it because even if Renzo asked me to do a somersault, I would do it.
