[WATCH] 135lb Ffion Davies Grapples 250lb Pro Rugby Player
Ffion Davies recently had a rolling session with Anthony Mullally, a former professional rugby player who stands 6’5” and weighs 250 pounds.
While Davies is one of the world’s top female grapplers, she typically competes at around 135 pounds, making the size difference between them significant. However, Mullally isn’t just big – he’s a high-level athlete, having played professional rugby league from 2009 to 2022.
The rolling session took place at Arma BJJ, where Davies is set to teach Jiu-Jitsu and Mullally serves as the Head of Wellness.Despite the weight disparity, Davies showcased her world-class skill and secured an armbar submission – a testament to her technical mastery as both an ADCC and IBJJF World Champion.

Davies recently raised her voice about sexism in Jiu-Jitsu:
I was so used to hearing sexist jokes, sexist comments…Things like: “This move isn’t for you, you’re a woman.”
I’ve been told: “Oh, you don’t roll like a girl”, as if that’s a compliment. As if to be taken seriously, I have to separate myself from other women.
If we want more women in the sport, we have to change the culture. That starts with coaches, gym owners, and training partners taking us seriously – not as an afterthought.
Sloth Jiu-Jitsu: you can be slow and unathletic and still kick butt in Jiu-Jitsu.
