[WATCH] Ever Seen This Crazy Twister-Kneebar BJJ Submission?
Combat FC 9 took place on February 28th, 2025 – and one fighter in particular stood out, by securing an incredibly rare Kneebar variation!
The finish occurred in one of the earlier fights on the card, featuring featherweight Jake Pilla and bantamweight Shawn Johnson in a 140lb catchweight bout. Both fighters were veterans of the regional scene, with Pilla entering the fight with a 5-2 professional record, while Johnson had a 4-11 record.
Given Pilla’s history of securing submission victories (four out of his five wins had come via tapout) and Johnson’s struggles in grappling exchanges, having been submitted in six of his losses, a submission victory for Pilla wasn’t unexpected. However, the way he achieved it was completely unorthodox.
Pilla wasted no time bringing the fight to the ground, quickly establishing control.Using a rear body lock to secure Johnson’s upper body, he carefully got his legs into position.
Once he had the control he needed, he extended his leg behind Johnson’s knee and applied pressure, executing a lateral Kneebar-like submission.Johnson tried to resist but was clearly in intense pain, ultimately tapping out.
The official time of the submission was just 46 seconds into the very first round.Check out the rare submission hold on the video below:
