Vince Morales is making waves on the regional MMA scene.
At United Fight League 5 in Chandler, Arizona, “Vandetta” secured his fifth consecutive victory since leaving the UFC – by utilizing a unique variation of the Peruvian Necktie to submit fellow UFC veteran Hunter Azure.
Peruvian Neckties are rare in MMA, but Morales put his own twist on the submission to finish Azure in the third round. This victory marks Morales’ fourth win by knockout or submission during his current streak, and it had also earned him the UFL bantamweight title.
In a message shared with MMA Fighting, Morales explained the innovation behind his modified Peruvian Necktie:
So far I haven’t seen anyone hit any variation of the Peruvian necktie like that one.
Main thing is instead of the hamstring going across the back of the head, the shin goes up against the neck to apply pressure on the carotid.More so like the D’Arce meets a Peruvian using the legs.
Check out the submission on the video below. Will you start using this variation in your training as well?
