World’s Largest Ever Women’s Open (185 Women) Was Held In France Organised by CFJJB
The French Confederation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (CFJJB) once again showcased the strength, talent, and spirit of women in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by hosting their second consecutive Women’s Open Mat event. Held on November 11th at the renowned Dojo Awaju—site of the last two IBJJF European Championships—the gathering brought together an impressive 185 female practitioners from across France, setting a new historic attendance record exclusively for CFJJB license holders.
The day’s festivities featured more than just sparring. In a display of dedication to fostering skill development and camaraderie among female athletes, the morning began with a special technical seminar led by none other than recent IBJJF World Championship medalist in the adult black belt division, Stephanie Faure, widely respected for her talent and contributions to the sport.
The impact of the event extended beyond the mats, reflecting the community’s compassion and commitment to meaningful causes. Through the collective efforts of all participants, the CFJJB successfully raised €3,085, a sum that will be donated entirely to the National League Against Breast Cancer. This generous gesture exemplifies how the BJJ community can make a difference by coming together for a worthy cause.
The CFJJB expressed heartfelt gratitude to every woman who attended and made this memorable day possible. With passion, technique, and solidarity on full display, the event reaffirmed the power of women in BJJ.
The French Confederation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has already begun looking ahead, inviting all licensees to next season’s Women’s Open Mat. The future for female practitioners in the sport remains brighter than ever.
